ONEDREAMRUSH 42 X 42 SHORT FILM FESTIVAL TRAILER

ONEDREAMRUSH assembled 42 of the most influential and progressive filmmakers from around the world to direct 42-seconds short films about dreams. Commissioned by 42 Below Vodka (Bacardi) and in cooperation with the Beijing Film Studios, the finished works were exhibited in Beijing’s China National Film Museum in April 2009 and went on to screen at 62nd Cannes Film Festival and later in the year were shown at the Rotterdam, Rome and New York Film Festivals.

EIN KAMPF DES EGOS

Ein Kampf Des Egos is a story of a girl’s epic internal battle with her inner darkness and desperation for experiences. The trajectory of her hopes and fears are transposed into the hypnotic yet harmonious rhythms of a sensual and solemn Mother Time, performed by stunning German beauty Sarah Batt in her first film appearance. A metaphysical travel through time, the film navigates into the mental and emotional journey of self, transporting the viewer into a transcendental dimension where time and space are suddenly irrelevant and superfluous, Ein Kampf Des Egos is a visual and psychological imagination of a girl’s trip to the heart of darkness and beyond.

INTERNO

Meditative and hallucinatory, Interno is a reflection on infinitesimal fragments of solitude. Blurring and ephemeral, the film’s sense of isolation volatilizes the corporeal and creates a subliminal presence that reveals itself through a hypnotic and uncanny pace. The mind’s eyes are watching the mind itself, while the internos steadily oscillate back and forth, as in a game of shifting vantage points. The film features Nathalia Acevedo, star of Carlos Reygadas’ Post Tenebras Lux, awarded with the Best Director Prize at the 65^th Cannes Film Festival in May 2012. While being shot on the eve of her début at Cannes Film Festival, the intention of this filmic exercise was aimed at provoking in her an uncomfortable state through the artifices of make-up and costumes. Acting out a sense of withdrawal from the real, typical of transitional phases in life, Interno provides an ambiguous encounter between interior and exterior domains. The film was shot by Guillermo Garza on location in Mexico City including Galeria OMR, featuring interactive installation pieces by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.

TIEMPO

Stylistically and visually inspired by the works of Flemish and Dutch painters of the 15th and 16th century, Tiempo consists of a series of ten tableaux vivants. Part of ONEDREAMRUSH, a 42-seconds short film festival, which had its gala première in Beijing, China in 2009, Tiempo stars Adan Jodorowsky, Mexican newcomer Stephanie Sigman and Keyboardist and music producer Money Mark composed the film’s eerie soundscape.

ZAN DARA

Zan Dara is an exploration of memory and life experiences seen through the mind and eyes of a star in her twilight years. Featuring 1952 Miss Stockholm and former Vogue top model and actress Gita Hall, the film was commissioned for Diane Pernet and Franca Sozzani’s Italian Vogue 1 Minute Light Series, held in Milan in 2010.

VOX HUMANA

Starring Jenny Lewis, with a special cameo appearance by legendary avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger, the film features Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte’s works for the first time on screen. Commissioned by SHOWstudio for its Future Tense project, Vox Humana was featured as part of Diane Pernet’s A Shaded View On Fashion film festival.

MAVU

Inspired by 1930s and 40s art and fashion photography and silent cinema of 1920s, Mavu embodies a critical reflection on the fashion film. The solo composition is performed by world-renowned pianist Rosey Chan. Mavu marks the beginning of a series collaborations with stylist Lauren Duncan and make-up artist Sharon Gault.
